Viking Axes

Hand forged viking axes, drawn out under the hammer the way the originals were made. Bearded heads with the long lower bit that lets you choke up behind the edge for carving, Dane axes with a wide sweeping bit, and belt sized hand axes for camp.

The beard is not decoration. It gives a light head a long cutting edge and a place to put your hand when you are shaping wood rather than splitting it, which is exactly why the pattern lasted a thousand years.

High carbon steel bits, hardened at the edge and left softer through the eye so the head takes a hit without cracking, hung on hickory or ash handles. Etched patterns and leather bit covers on request. For historical knives forged alongside these, see seax knives and historical blades.
